It’s All About Quality Not Quantity At Cebit 2019 – Sydney Icc

CEBIT 2019 has an impressive display of business tech from all around the world, with applications for most industries. AI, VR, AR, Holograms, Bots, Automation Sofware & Payment Software featured heavily. This years format is definitely a step up from the CEBIT of old which took place in Homebush. The ICC is an ultra-modern venue. There is far more quality in all the exhibits and far less quantity of exhibitors. This CEBIT organising committee definitely has it right as there are better outcomes to be had by keeping the quality high.

LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE MOST EXCITING SPEECHES AND EXHIBITS TAKING PLACE AT CEBIT SYDNEY 2019.

KRISTIN SHARMA – LONDON, OPENING KEYNOTE ON AI.

One of the opening keynote speeches was AI related. It explored issues of fairness and diversity as judged by AI. One topic which was particularly interesting was that almost by definition, the AI industry should not just be left to self regulation. Do you really want a bunch of resourceful machines working on the human population crisis autonomously?

CLEVERTAR & JADE – ADVANCES IN VIDEO CHAT BOTS

CEBIT was abuzz with the promise of chat bots taking over customer experiences. Live demos were given including chatting with your friendly virtual barrister Jade while she makes you the perfect skim flat white!

MINDBUILD – LEAD QUALIFICATION

Uses technology to qualify leads and score them within 90 seconds, mostly through the use of a form the user should fill out as they convert on Facebook or on a website.

UNITE IT – SMART CITIES

Smart homes are sooo last year. Smart cities are the next big thing! They have the ability to help us live in greener, healthier, more convenient societies. Smart cities are more than just those green little lights that come on at your local Westfield shopping centre when you finally find an empty car spot after 20 mins of circling (although there’s nothing more exciting than that!).

CURIOUS THING – AI ENABLED MASS SCALE RECRUITING

Using AI for mass recruiting purposes could be an amazing way to save on HR manager bandwidth and screen a higher volume of candidates in the process. Essentially, a Robo call is placed to thousands of candidates who register. After answering a series of questions, the interview ends, and an analytical report is prepared for the hiring party.

HYPERVSN HOLOGRAMS

The most impressive thing at CEBIT. These holograms actually look great and are already being used mostly in commercial retail environments. One of these panels will cost you about $2,500 and can even be installed in your home. Imagine putting a hologram of Super Mario next to your Xbox and widescreen TV. I don’t think there’s a more impressive way to spoil your kids!

BOOK+APP & SCOTTIEGO! – AR, VR, TECH KIDS GAMES

Hitech kids educational games are definitely a heating up segment. Most of them make use of augmented reality quite well including the front runner, Osmo. Book+App will sell you a children’s book full of animals for $50. Once you download the free app on your preferred device, you can hover over the pictures in the book and make the objects come to life, including flipping them around and asking the app to pronounce them.

HARLEY DAVIDSON ELECTRIC MOTORBIKES

Due for release in Australia 2020, The electric Harley Davidson is fast, efficient and sounds like a jet engine! After their delayed release due to one bike having some glitches, Harley are keen to SHAKE UP every conference they attend around the world.

TIPO TAPP – BUILD YOUR OWN SOFTWARE

It’s like squarespace or Wix for software development. Generate software for your business without writing a single line of code! The UI looks great with visual integrations like maps and charts. For about $3000 a month you can have bespoke software and a free app version of your software that comes with it. They claim to build software ten times faster than traditional methods.
